September 29, 2022

We have had an eventful week.  Our class participated in the Terry Fox run, and we drew a portrait of Terry.

Every week, we have been walking around the school to look at the leaves on the trees to see what colours we can spot.  So far, we have seen "hojas de color amarilla, naranja, verde, cafe, roja y morada "(yellow, orange, green brown and purple leaves)

We had our pictures taken today, and got new library books.

We also started some new learning centers, including Roll and Build, Step by Step Drawing, and Count the Apples and Record.

We have been learning about Indigenous ways of knowing, including the tradition and meaning behind sharing circles and talking sticks. We are asking children to go on an outdoor walk this weekend, and search for a stick approximately 30 cm long/5 cm in diameter to bring to school. We will be painting and creating our own talking sticks to share at home with our families. Please bring a stick to school on Monday, October 3, or Tuesday, October 4, whichever day your child is at school.

Today we watched this video.  We will wear our Orange Shirts on Monday, October 3.

We will begin learning the Spanish words for "Las partes de la cara" (The parts of the face)

Ojos - eyes
Nariz - nose
Boca - mouth
Dientes - teeth
Orejas - ears
